I’m very excited to be attending the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop in Wichita, Kansas this coming week. I went to the last one and learned a lot about different projects for reaching other stars. As the website notes:
The purpose of TVIW is to facilitate interstellar research and exploration by hosting regular summit meetings, encouraging educational advances, publishing technical and scientific papers, and supporting literature and culture, all in the service of enhancing public understanding and dialogue toward interstellar exploration. TVIW will assist in building a technological, philosophical, and economic infrastructure that advances the goal of establishing outposts throughout the Solar System and, finally, achieving a pathway to the stars.
Attendees include engineers, astrophysicists, science fiction writers, and at least one space lawyer. I will be conducting a seminar on space law on Sunday afternoon at 1, and am looking forward to a session on terraforming Venus on Tuesday. The full agenda is here.
