{"id":2062,"date":"2019-06-03T10:46:14","date_gmt":"2019-06-03T14:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/groundbasedspacematters.com\/?p=2062"},"modified":"2019-06-03T10:46:14","modified_gmt":"2019-06-03T14:46:14","slug":"faa-comment-period-on-licensing-nprm-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/groundbasedspacematters.com\/index.php\/2019\/06\/03\/faa-comment-period-on-licensing-nprm-extended\/","title":{"rendered":"FAA Comment Period on Licensing NPRM Extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/FR-2019-05-31\/pdf\/2019-11286.pdf\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2063 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/groundbasedspacematters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Screen-Shot-2019-06-03-at-10.43.08-AM-238x300.png?resize=221%2C279&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a>The Federal Aviation Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/FR-2019-05-31\/pdf\/2019-11286.pdf\"><strong>extended the time<\/strong><\/a> for commenting on its notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for its licensing and safety requirements from June 14, 2019, to July 30, 2019.\u00a0 Remember, the NPRM is a draft of what the FAA will eventually require.\u00a0 Now is your chance to get the agency to change its mind about the details of what it proposes to do.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty-six prospective commenters asked for additional time, and the FAA responded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The FAA agrees with the petitioners\u2019 request for an extension of the comment period. It recognizes the content of the proposed rule is significant and complex, and that an extension would help commenters craft complete and thoughtful responses. Because the rule was posted on the FAA\u2019s website 20 days prior to its publication in the Federal Register, the FAA is extending the comment period an additional 45 days. With this extension, the comment period will now close on July 30, 2019.
